Character board for The Crimson Bond Series

So, right now I'm working on the third and final installment of The Crimson Bond series and thought it would be fun to share a peak of the character board I use when I'm writing.

There is some total eye candy on there, so the view while writing is definitely not bad!

What do you think? Do they look like you imagined?

If you haven't read books 1 and 2 of The Crimson Bond series you can check them out on Amazon.

Well, I guess I should get back to writing before it's time to stop and pick the girls up from school!

Un-freaking-believable

Perhaps it doesn't take much to make me happy, but I experienced something this week that was a first and was un-freaking-believable!

I went to my mailbox and laying inside was a slim cardboard box. I knew, just knew, that this was the box. The one containing my first ever actual, tangible, living, breathing (okay, well not literally, but...) beautiful and breathtaking (for me, anyway) BOOK. Yep, that's right. That's all it took to make me as excited as a teenage girl after her first kiss. See? I told you it doesn't take much.

I have three ebooks, but My Only Exception is the first one that I've actually made available in paperback. And, eeeek!, it was so exciting actually holding in my hands the pages containing Presley and Braden's story. There's something so real about it.

So freaking unbelievable. Eeeek! Okay, I'm done. Promise.

And, I could not finish this post without recommending an awesome paranormal romance I read this week, Charity Moon. It was way too easy to lose yourself in Charity's world. Not to mention a totally drool-worthy hottie named Levi who will have you falling for him right along with Charity. You won't want to put it down!! Go get it!!:)

Well, I'm off to soak up some sunshine. Happy Friday!!!

What a girl wants... ;)

TGIF!

What a girl wants??

Adam Levine, of course!! But, I saved the best for last!!:)

Thank you to those that have downloaded My Only Exception and thank you, thank you, thank you to anyone that has left a goodreads or amazon review, or have recommended the book to a friend.

You are the best! Truly.

The first week of a release always feels kinda like a rollercoaster to me. Up and down as you watch the response to it. Of course you hope that everyone will love it and leave great reviews, but it is pretty much predictable that not everyone will. I am so thankful that most of the response has been good. That makes me happyyy!!

Every book I write feels a bit like a child I'm putting out into the world. A little scary to me still, so when someone takes the time to let me know they liked it, well, it's a great feeling :)

If you have read My Only Exception, please take a few seconds to leave an Amazon review. They help so much when someone is trying to decide if a book is worth their time. I know reviews sure help me when I am trying to find a good read!

Okay, on to something a little more fun that I wanted to share. I found a few pictures that do a pretty good job of showing how I envisioned Presley, Braden, and Bree to look as I was writing. I posted them below and would love to know if they came close to what you envisioned as you were reading.

Presley looks pretty much exactly like she does on the cover. I was so pleased to have found someone who fit the bill so well.

I think this one is pretty close too

Then there is Presleys BFF, Bree. This picture is very close to what I imagined her to be, right down to the berry colored hair.

Now for Braden. I think Adam Levine is a great representation of who I imagined for Braden. And really, who wouldn't want him??? He is definitely what a girl wants!!

I may be drooling just a little bit looking at this picture...

Now I am off to spend the rest of my day with these three angels, and of course read :)

Hope you have a great weekend and please if you've read My Only Exception, stop by Amazon and leave a review. I'll love you forever!!!

XOXO,

Erika

It just wouldn't leave me alone...

This is always my very favorite time --and it's almost here! Release day for my new adult contemporary romance, My Only Exception, is tomorrow and I am super excited.

I'm especially excited because this book was a little different for me. It kind of wrote itself. I had all intentions of writing my third book in The Crimson Bond series and yet this one literally attacked me.

Really

I was minding my own business, trying to clean up the house while all three of my children ran around like nuts, and Presley's story jumped on me and wouldn't go away. A particular scene kept running through my head and it was just so vivid I couldn't keep cleaning -- I had to write it down.

You're probably thinking that cleaning wasn't a big deterrent from writing, but I'm a little OCD about a neat and orderly house and mine was in the process of being destroyed by three angel face tornados. So, for me to stop and let them continue to tear it to pieces while I tuned them out and entered Presley and Braden's world... well, that is saying a lot about just how persistantly this story was attacking me.

So I wrote what is now one of my favorite scenes and then went back and started Presley and Braden's story from the beginning. It just all fell into place and before I knew it I was just as in love with them as I am with Brooke and Alex from The Crimson Bond. And, of course, I forgave them for interrupting my cleaning ;)

Below is the cover for My Only Exception and a short blurb about it. I hope you will go to Amazon and order it tomorrow!! And, please, let me know how you like it!! :)

Presley Sutton grew up with a jaded heart. She didn’t give her heart away to anyone until Braden Worthington entered the picture. A tattooed heartthrob on the fast track to stardom, Braden is everything Presley‘s ever tried to avoid. Lead singer for the band, Chronic Need, Braden is known for his love ‘em and leave ‘em attitude and Presley is sure this time will be no different. It goes without saying that falling for Braden Worthington would mean confronting her worst fear… heartbreak. But when Braden begins to chip away at the walls around her already fragile heart, Presley soon begins to realize that some things are worth the risk. If she can just get the guts to make Braden… her only exception.

And, because I love you so much, I've included below a excerpt from the scene that just wouldn't leave my alone....

*  *  *

Braden walked me up to my apartment door and I opened it, stepping aside to let him in. The small lamp I’d lit before leaving was lighting the room in a soft glow. I walked over to the table sitting next to the entryway and placed my pocket-book down, taking an extra second to reel the nerves back in that were making their appearance again.

I stood motionless when I felt Braden come up behind me sliding his hands over my hips and then gently kissing my neck. I sucked in a breath as he turned me around.

“Presley. I’m tired of fighting this. Tell me you want this as bad as I do.”

I looked into his green eyes lined with those killer dark lashes and what I saw in them was way more than just lust. I saw something that looked suspiciously like love, but of course had to be just affection. It was the same look I’d seen when he sang to me. And, it was enough to convince me that this was right.

But that little nagging voice in my head reminded me that he was leaving soon. And that scared me now more than ever because I was more emotionally involved than I’d ever let myself be with anyone.

“Braden, are you sure this is a good idea.” I gestured to the space between us, knowing my indecision was probably written all over my face. Not that I was undecided about him. I mean, give me a break, who wouldn’t want Braden? He was drop-dead gorgeous, passionate about everything he cared for, and had a voice that would practically melt a girl’s panties off.

I’d be crazy not to want him.

But now that I had actual feelings for him —it changed everything for me.

Usually with Braden, when it came to females, his passions ran hot until the next girl came along. And then he dropped her like a bad habit. I’d seen it before with him. A million times over.

And I was pretty sure I wouldn’t survive that. Because as much as I hated, really hated, to admit it: Braden touched something deep inside of me and I knew that I would never be satisfied with just being a short diversion. I wanted him all. And the worst part was —he already had my heart, whether he realized it or not.

Hope you enjoyed this little teaser and that you'll read their story tomorrow!
Have a great Monday!! :)

How I envision the Regency's palace...

I'm sure that whenever we read something we all envision the characters and places a little differently. So, I've added a picture that I hope gives you a visual idea of what one of the major places in this novel looks like.

In The Crimson Bond, Brooke is kidnapped and taken to the Regency's castle by... well, I'll let you read and find that part out ;)

But, the picture below is the closest depiction I can find of what I imagined the Regency's castle to look like.

And a lot happens to Brooke at this location. Brooke discovers a lot about her past, takes her relationship with Alex to the next level, really gets to know Ethan better, and well, once again, I'd better save the big life changer that happens for when you read the book.

Until then, here is a quote from Alex to Brooke taken from a scene in The Crimson Bond that occurs at, where else? The castle pictured above :)

"You are the air I breathe, the essence that gives me life, and the only thing that makes living an eternity worth it."

And get ready, because Book 2 of The Crimson Bond series is releasing sometime this month!!!
